The Struggle Was Real

If you’ve ever finished a world-class dive only to spend the next hour fighting a 'bird’s nest' of salt-crusted hair, you know my pain. 🌊

MermAid started from my love for the ocean and a simple frustration: the struggle of tangled hair, leaking masks, and gear that just doesn't stay put when you need it most.

I’m Anna, a PADI Scuba Diving Instructor with over 20 years of salt in my veins and thousands of dives under my belt all over the world. For two decades, I watched female divers (and myself!) settle for 'unisex' gear that simply didn't care about our hair. Between mask-strap breakage and the dreaded 'noodle hair,' I knew there had to be a better way.

The Problem We Solve

Every diver with long hair knows the routine—tie it back, tuck it in, hope your mask seals properly, and deal with the salt-damaged tangles afterward. Traditional headbands slip during giant strides, do not protect the whole length of your hair, or simply aren't designed for the demands of diving.

Our Solution

MermAid headbands are the first diving headbands designed to protect more than just your forehead. Each piece is:

  • Handcrafted in Cyprus – We're a small operation based on the beautiful island of Cyprus, surrounded by incredible dive sites and shipwrecks that inspire our designs
  • Scuba-instructor approved – Tested in real conditions by professional divers who demand gear that actually works
